Step into a Venetian palace, visit an unlikely yet breathtaking staircase, explore the most hidden corners of Venice, and experience the exciting atmospheres of "Acqua Alta" bookstore, probably the most singular bookstore you will ever see.
Your local tour guide will take you through the most beautiful and least known areas of Venice. You will discover gems such as Marco Polo's house where you will learn about the famous Venetian traveler and his epic journey. You will walk by the Malibran Theater, inaugurated during Carnival in 1678 and quickly became one of the main and most extravagant Venetian stages.
As you continue on your walking journey, you will stop at Campo Santa Maria Formosa, considered one of the most beautiful and thriving "campo" around. From there, your guide will take you along a tiny alley that will lead you to a particular bookshop, with piles of books arranged in very unusual shelves. Then, continue to the Palazzo Grimani. This beautiful palace was the residence of the Doge Antonio Grimani. The palace was expanded in the mid-sixteenth century by the Patriarch of Aquileia, Giovanni Grimaldi. An educated man and an avid collector of classical art and archaeology, it is said that he designed the building's features.
You will then proceed to the Contarini Bovolo Staircase. Considered an architectural gem, it is also a unique example of Venetian architecture in the transition from Gothic, well-rooted in the local culture, to the Renaissance. Its spiral staircase is imposing, and the view that opens from its top is impressive as well: St. Mark's Bell Tower, Basilica and a 180 degrees view over Venice's roofs that will hardly be forgotten.
Please Note: Admission fees to the Palazzo Grimani (not included, approximately 4 EUR per person) and the Contarini Bovolo Staircase (not included, approximately 7 EUR per person) are payable upon arrival. Depending on your ship's docking location, a vaporetto, water shuttle, or walk may be required. Transportation between your ship and Campo San Bartolomeo and entrance to sites are not included in the tour price.

Mr. Miller is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Abercrombie & Kent, the World's leading luxury travel company. In that role, Mr. Miller was responsible for contributing to Abercrombie & Kent's international growth through the development and acquisition of tour products and travel experiences around the world with a specific focus on cruising and land based experiences. Prior to joining Abercrombie & Kent, Mr. Miller held a variety of executive positions with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises for more than a decade. These positions included Vice President of Guest Sales & Service, Vice President of Brand Development, and Vice President of Onboard Revenue (which included shore excursions). Mr. Miller also led Celebrity Expeditions, a collection of outstanding and unique tours around the World.
Michael Bonner
Mr. Bonner has over a decade of experience working in the cruise industry in a variety of roles for both Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Viking River Cruises. Most recently, Mr. Bonner was the Chief Operating Officer for The Scholar Ship, a Royal Caribbean program aimed at providing college students onboard educational programs in conjunction with enriching shore excursions around the world. Mr. Bonner also helped co-manage Viking River Cruises U.S. Operations, and he ran the corporate, strategic, and deployment planning functions at Royal Caribbean. While at Royal Caribbean, Mr. Bonner was responsible for forming Royal Celebrity Tours, Royal Caribbean's land-based tour operation in Alaska, which takes cruise passengers on multiple day tours through the interior of Alaska either before or after their cruises.
